Bringing Clean Water to Chiang Mai, Thailand

Sunshine Heroes partnered with Raintree Foundation in northern Thailand on a project to provide Bio-Sand water filters to the remote Karen Hill Tribe villages. The filters were installed in early 2013 and are able to provide sanitary water for 4,000 individuals each year. The Bio-Sand filters are a new adaptation of sand filters that have been used for hundreds of years. They are produced using local labor and materials in Thailand and can last for decades. Working through natural processes, the filters require no electricity, fuel, or chemicals. With the funding from the Sunshine Heroes Foundation, four entire villages have been provided with clean water for the next 20 years!
