In 2011, The Sunshine Heroes Foundation funded their fourth Sunshine Children’s Center, a health clinic near Chitwan in Birendranager, Nepal. The 542,000 people living in this rural area previously had to travel 1 to 2 days to reach health care. As a result, one in every six children in Birendranager died before their first birthday. With this new health clinic in place, the infant mortality rate will decrease by 60 percent. The health clinic is estimated to treat 20,000 people in 2012 alone. The funds donated by the Sunshine Heroes Foundation purchased medical equipment including an x-ray machine and other lab equipment. It also helps provide maternal care, pediatric care and basic educational training to the local people about how to better care for their health needs. Within this Sunshine Children’s Center, children will receive healthcare that will allow them to live a happier, healthier life. It is estimated that this center will serve over 15,000 people per year.
